Peril at End House

So this is a bit of a different mystery so I’m just going to write the scenario.

Nick Buckley has narrowly escaped death three times. She believes that it was all just accidents but Poirot isn’t so sure. When Miss Buckley’s cousin gets killed the plot deepens further. Are the two culprits the same person or not?

I really enjoyed this book. I guessed who the culprit was at the beginning of the book but as the plot thickened I began to second-guess myself.  I would recommend this book too anyone who likes to read.

Threads of Suspicion

I received a free copy of this book from  the Bethany House bloggeer review program  in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Threads of Suspicion by Dee Henderson was published by Bethany House in 2017.

Henderson writes about two different yet similar conflicts. One is Maggie’s internal conflict where she struggles with accepting Jesus as her lord and savior. The other is Evie’s conflict where she struggles with her answer to Rob’s marriage proposal.

Evie Blackwell is a detective who is working on the Missing Person’s Task Force. She is currently investigating the case of a missing college student by the name of Jenna.

David is also working with the Missing Persons Task Force. He takes the case of Saul Morris, a private investigator. He and Evie help each other with their cases throughout the duration of this book.

Margaret May MacDonald is a famous singer. She is also David’s girlfriend. David and Evie believe that Maggie’s concert might have something to do with Jenna’s disappearance.

Jenna is the missing person that David and Evie are trying to find. When they interviewed people who knew Jenna they see two startlingly different view points. David and Evie have to figure out which viewpoint is closer to the truth.

This book is set in suburban Chicago. Most of the people there are very helpful and willing to be interviewed. Evie and David, with the help of God, have to figure out if all of the missing girl’s cases are linked or if it is just a coincidence.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought that it had the right amount of suspense and it didn’t drag on to long. I would 10/10 recommend this book.

The Screwtape Letters

Last week I was reading The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis and I thought it would be a good idea to make this weeks review about it. The book was divided into a series of letters by a demon, Screwtape, to his nephew, Wormwood, Screwtape advises Wormwood on how to proceed with tempting his “patient”. I thought the book was very interesting and made you think. The most important thing is to remember that the letters are between demons and that everything Screwtape says you should do the opposite.

Maya Papaya

Julius Caesar

mpbooks: We have Maya Papaya stationed in Rome on the 15th of March. We are hoping that Caesar will pass this way on his way to the Senate. Over to you Maya.

Papaya: Yes I am here stationed where Caesar passes every day on his way to the Senate. He should be com…

Soothsayer: Beware the Ides of March!

Papaya: Excuse me?

Soothsayer: Beware the Ides of March!

(Soothsayer runs off)

Caesar: Was that guy bothering you?

Papaya: Uh, no, not really, he just kept on saying…

Caesar: Beware the Ides of March yeah, I know he was saying the same thing to me earlier. Not sure what he means by that. My wife had a scary dream about me being killed last night. Not sure what that means either. It’s probably not important.

Papaya: Probably. So where are you off too?

Casear: The Senate. Some guy who hates me told me to go there today and I  trust him explicity.

Papaya: Sounds legit. Bye! Have fun being crowned king!

Caesar: Thank you! I will!

Papaya: Well there seems no point in staying here any longer. Over to you mp…

(distant shouting and screaming)

Papaya: Wait a second. I’m going to see what’s going on.

(sees Antony n the distance)

Papaya: Antony! Mark Antony

(Antony sees Papaya and walks over)

Papaya: What’s wrong? What happened?

Antony: They killed him! One by one they stabbed him.

Papaya: Killed who?

Antony: Caesar! They murdered Caesar in cold blood! And now they might kill me too. Everyone knows we were friends.

Papaya: That’s awful.

Antony: I need to go back and pretend that I’m on their side if I want to live. But they  might kill me as soon as I step in the  door. I need to send someone to tell them  that I’m not angry with them. But who? You wouldn’t be interested would you?

Papaya: Am I interested in going into the midst of a bunch of murderers? Of course I am! Just tell me what to say.

Antony; Okay. Tell them that I’m upset about the murder of my friend but I’m willing to hear them out. I sent you because I was afraid. If they are willing to talk to me tall them to send you to me and I will come.

Papaya: Well it looks like I have a job! Over to you mpbooks.
